About Dave's Chimney Service
Our Story
Dave grew up in Southern Illinois, close to St. Louis. In his spare time, he volunteered at the local Volunteer fire department in their Jr.'s program. After graduating High School he spent 8 years as a Aviation Structural Mechanic in the US Navy, and loved working on F-14's. He learned a lot about paint and body work, metal work, corrosion, and other structures, including fire safety and damage. Dave came to Arkansas through a job fair following his time in the US Navy, to work at Mid Coast Aviation in Little Rock. After some time in Little Rock, Dave thought for sure he wasn't going to stay here, then he met his wife, Janelle.
Dave and Janelle were married in 2002, blending a family of his one daughter in Illinois and Janelle's 2 sons in Arkansas, and then had one daughter together. In 2003, Dave was working in a sheet metal roofing job, and was laid off for winter weather, when asked to help out his Father-in-law in his fireplace service business. The combination worked so well, he was asked to work with him full time. Dave worked in the field for almost 3 years before becoming CSIA Certified. Dave, then with "Buck's Chimney Service", and later his wife Janelle also, helped grow the business to be the "Go To" chimney company in Central Arkansas. After almost 20 years, Bob, his Father-in-Law, fell ill, and was forced into retirement medically. Dave was injured in this time working by himself, and was off work for a couple of years. He still received calls from several long time customers to continue to care for their fireplaces. This was how Dave's Chimney Service was born. Dave never planned to work in the fireplace business, it just turned out to be the right fit for everyone. Buck's had been closed for 3 plus years, Dave bought the remainder of Bob's equipment, all the business stuff was done and he's in business. Dave has a wealth of experience, and many customers that have followed him, but he's extremely helpful to that new customer as well. Dave has the ability to make you feel like he's helping his own family. His honesty and fair prices are also bonuses that set him apart.
In his spare time, Dave enjoys fishing, riding a motorcycle and 4 wheeler, time with family, a great barbeque with friends, and his dogs.
Dave's story really begins with his wife, Janelle. Janelle was adopted by her aunt and uncle in Chicago when almost 3, and moved to Arkansas when she was 7. Both sets of Grandparents had already moved to Hot Springs, and she lived there until Middle School, when her Mom moved them to Little Rock to complete her teaching degree. At 10, her parents had divorced, and both remarried. Janelle's Dad married Kay Sutton from Hot Springs, and he started working at a Buck Stove store in Hot Springs. Soon there after, Bob and Kay purchased the Buck Stove Store, which expanded into a Little Rock store, and the state representative for the Buck Stove distributorship. Janelle grew up at the store, weekends playing with dolls, to a full time retail job when she was 20. She grew up with a wood stove in the home, hearing all the details, and loving the dependability of the brand. Bob lost his second wife to cancer, and closed his brick and motor business, then met his third wife, Weezie. She helped establish his service company, then after Janelle remarried, Dave seemed the type that Bob was looking for as his helper. The company grew fast. Soon after, Janelle came on board full time to schedule and keep the guys organized. Over the years, Janelle had run her own successful cleaning business, had a pizza restaurant for a short time, and worked in marketing. Janelle helped to reach out to the customers not only in building relationships, but also education, since she has grown up in the business. After the family business closed, Janelle went to work at the Hobby Lobby in Benton, and loved the craftiness as well as working with the people.
Janelle has 2 sons from her first marriage and her daughter with Dave. They are all grown now, but she still loves girl days with her daughter Jade. Janelle no longer works due to many health issues, however, she will still help Dave stay organized, and loves teaching and marketing if given an opportunity. In her spare time, she loves to garden, cooking, canning, crafting, game shows, and singing. At home, you will usually find her with one of her dogs on her lap or at her feet.
Together, Dave and Janelle would love to retire to the beach, soak up the sun and salt air, while fishing and enjoying music on a patio with friends, family, and of coarse...the dogs!
